The ciabòt between tradition and conviviality
The ciabòt is a small rural building typical of the Piedmont hills, closely linked to the vineyard landscape of the Langhe and Monferrato.
Its origins date back centuries, to a time when Piedmontese farmers would build these small stone or brick shelters to rest, store tools or take shelter while working in the fields.
Over time, the ciabòt took on a symbolic role in the local culture, representing the close connection between man and the land, a place of rest and reflection, but also of meeting and sharing. Its small size, rustic style and often panoramic location convey a sense of peace and simplicity, offering the ideal space for a restorative break and to share convivial moments with friends and family.
Rediscovering memories of the past
The ciabòt continues to embody the convivial spirit of Piedmontese rural life. Some have been renovated and transformed into small spaces for wine tastings or “merende sinoire”, a typical late afternoon meal in Piedmont, usually a combination of wine and cold foods, while others continue to fulfil their original function. These buildings represent not only a piece of history, but also a cultural heritage that unites past and present, bringing back to memory the slow rhythm of country life and the traditions linked to the grape harvest.
A journey in time, from row to row
The ciabòt is so deeply linked to our family roots that it gave rise to the name of the winery. For us, it symbolises home, family, an intimate place where we can cultivate beauty and share the small but significant pleasures of life.
We would like to be able to transmit these sensations to our friends and customers who come to visit us in La Morra, which is why we are planning an itinerary among our family ciabòt, to enable them to experience the authentic atmosphere of the Langhe, with a delightful panoramic walk among the vineyards surrounding the property.
