This is a lovely wine that is packed tight with spicy oak renderings, chocolate Nutella, almond paste, red fruit and roasted espresso bean. The wine shows elegant, drying tannins with creamy mocha flavors that last long in the mouth. Drink after 2015. M.L. (9/1/2011) — 93
JANCISROBINSON.COM: La Morra. Deep ruby with orange tinges. Opulent, sweet oak and fruit cake, but much more compact and tannic on the palate. Fruit-cake notes on the finish with hints of cherry. Quite good, but with drying tannin on the finish. 15.5 Drink 2012-18 (WS)
ANNATA 2006:
WINE ADVOCATE (Dec 2010): The 2006 Barolo is one of the most refined, elegant wines I have ever tasted from Ciabot Berton. Gorgeous aromatics meld seamlessly into dark red fruit as this pretty Barolo opens up in the glass. The fruit shows notable harmony from start to finish. The estate's Barolo is made from vineyards in Roggeri, Bricco S. Biagio and Rive, all in the Santa Maria district in La Morra. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. Drink: 2012 - 2021. Rating 89, by Antonio Galloni
DECANTER: Poised, delicate and fragrant spice, minerals and fresh flowers. Youthful, spicypeppery palate with smooth tannins. Simple but does what it says on the tin. 16,33. Drink 2013-2018.

ABOUT.COM GUIDE – Kyle Phillip : Deep black almandine with black reflexions and almandine rim. The bouquet is fairly intense, with dusky sour cherry fruit supported by some green leather and deft spice supported by alcohol that confers warmth. Harmonious through quite young. On the palate it's ample and soft, with fairly rich cherry plum fruit supported by moderate slightly sweet berry fruit acidity and by tannins that have a sweet cedary burr and flow into a clean bright plum finish with underlying tannic support. It's quite ripe , displaying plum as well as red berry fruit, but not so ripe as to be terminally soft and big; if you like the style you will enjoy it very much. 86-88
Quattro stelle
I VINI D'ITALIA 2011: 15,5/20
ENOGEA – II SERIE – N 31: Ha una buona fose di spigoli da smussare senza essere un vino di particolare struttura. Rovere accennato, acidità viva

WINE ADVOCATE (Apr 2009): These 2004 Barolos are the finest wines I have tasted from Ciabot Berton. The 2004 Barolo is made from vineyards in Roggeri, Bricco San Biagio and Rive, all of which are in Santa Maria, one of the less well-known parts of La Morra for fine Nebbiolo. This is a lean, powerful Barolo, but in this vintage there is also gorgeous, fragrant fruit that can stand up to the tannins. The wine reveals lovely balance and length, with cooling notes of mint that provide a sense of lift on the finish. This is a very attractive, mid-weight Barolo from Ciabot Berton. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016. Drink: 2009 - 2016. Rating 90, by Antonio Galloni
