BAROLO ROGGERI D.O.C.G

2007 VINTAGE:
WINE ADVOCATE (Oct 2011):
The single-vineyard 2007 Barolo Roggeri is deeper and more powerful than the regular bottling, but also quite a bit more tannic. The dark fruit is attractive, but the use of French oak dominates the wine's balance. Sweet spices, leather and licorice linger on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2019. Ciabot Berton is a solid, reliable producer in La Morra. Drink: 2014 - 2019. Rating 88, by Antonio Galloni

JANCISROBINSON.COM: 15.5 Drink 2012-19 La Morra. Medium concentrated ruby with orange rim. Initially somewhat marked by oak. Ripe fruit with cherry on the finish. Straightforard and well balanced and with ripe tannin. 15.5 Drink 2012-19 (WS)

2006 VINTAGE:
WINE ADVOCATE (Dec 2010):
The estate's 2006 Barolo Roggeri reveals a darker shade of red in its intense, weighty fruit. This is a richer, more virile Barolo than the entry-level wine, but, it too, possesses gorgeous balance and a long, persistent finish that invites a second taste. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. Drink: 2012 - 2022. Rating 90, by Antonio Galloni

DECANTER: Classic savoury., dark fruit, fennel rosesand violet perfume. Immediatly accessible red with balanced ripe fruit, refreshing acidity, nice use of oak and well-judged tannins. Ripe and silky. 17,5. Drink 2015-2022

WINE ENTHUSIAST:
Blackberry, sweet vanilla and candied fruit are backed by oak-related aromas of spice and tobacco. But, the real beauty of this wine is that those determined aromas are backed by a delicate fluttering of cola , liquoricwe and eucalyptus. This is a long ageing wine and the natural heft and thikness of its texture suggests tht it has many years to go. M.L. 92

JANCISROBINSON.COM
: Dark crimson with a little evolution on the rim. Treacly and rather alluring in a polished way. Very rich start. Very flashy but in the true Barolo idiom. Pretty tough finish for the moment. Wait! 16.5 Drink 2015-2023 (JR)

DECANTER: 4 stars ( "Highly Recommended")

WINEREVIEWONLINE.COM (July 6, 2010): The aromas are expressive and interesting, followed by a sweet midpalate with delicate flavors. Ripe tannin firms the finish without drying it. 91 points.

Quattro stelle

2004 VINTAGE:
WORLD OF FINE WINES (Issue 25 2009)
Nicholas Belfrage:
Good fruit behind, but lots of oak up-front on both nose and palate. Creamy tannins, which is good, and the acid is also good, but it’s just that bit too international wood-wise. 13
Roy Richards: bitter-cherry nose. Second nose: bitter chocolate. This is traditional, but august rather than rustic. It’s not a beauty today, but certainly has the potential to become so over time. 16
Franco Ziliani: ruby-violet, intense color. The nose is very complex and intense, with ripe fruit, wild game, leather, tobacco, earth, and mineral notes. Very harmonious and rich on the palate, with fantastic tannic structure, great persistence, and an earthy, mineral, savory character. Good potential for aging, as well. 16.5

VINUM (september 2008): Zürckhaltende Nase mit feinen Noten roter Beeren, auch würzige Komponenten; am Gaumen kompakt, geschmeidig, leckere geschliffene Gerbstoffe, fein ziselierte Säure, endet in einem leckeren, eleganten Fruchtfinale. 17 Punkte

WINE SPECTATOR (june 15 2008): Complex aromas of tar, rose, strawberry and light earth follow to a full body, with a dense core of fruit and silky, refined and racy tannins. Balanced and beautyful already. Best after 2011. 92 points. 500 cases made. J. S.

THE WINE NEWS MAGAZINE: Ample nose of ripe black cherry with hints of new leather and licorice, all of wich echo on the palate. Well balanced and powerful with big, dusty tannins and racy acidity. Best after 2012. Score: 93

DECANTER (may 2009): rich cherry nose, with subdued oak, but underlyng power. Upfront, juicy, modern. Concentrated fruit with ripe tannins. Long. From 2009. 15.5 Point - Reccomended

WINE ADVOCATE (Apr 2009)
These 2004 Barolos are the finest wines I have tasted from Ciabot Berton. The 2004 Barolo Roggeri is richer darker and more powerful than the Barolo, but not necessarily a better wine. There additional fruit is matched by similarly intense tannins, and it looks like the structural components will win out over the fruit. Still, the wine should drink nicely over the next few years. Licorice, spices and flowers linger on the finish, adding a nice degree of complexity to the fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2018. Drink: 2010 - 2018. Rating 90, by Antonio Galloni

Setosi i tannini. 91 punti (58° posizione su 100 vini)

VINI BUONI D’ITALIA 2009: Austero, suadente, generoso, con tannini ben controllati. 4 stelle

2003 VINTAGE:
WINE SPECTATOR (october 2007): This shows very ripe fruit, with plum and dried flower aromasthat follow through to a full bodied palate , with velvety tannins and a chewy finish. Big and juicy. Best after 2010. 92 points. 500 cases made. – JS.

WINE ADVOCATE (online): The 2003 Barolo Roggeri is darker and richer, but also more advanced in its flavors. It, too, is compromised by the hard, un ripe tannins that dominate its balance. Anticipated maturity 2008-2015. Rating 86, by Antonio Galloni

2001 VINTAGE:
WINE SPECTATOR (january 12, 2006): An opulent wine for the vintage with blackberry, plum and light coffee aromas and flavours. Full-bodied, with juicy fruit and a chewy tannin structure. Long finish. Best after 2008. 91 points.

DECANTER (may 2006): Restreined, spicy nose, the underlying intensità of cassis-type fruit aromas. Good intensità of flavour backed up with good structure. 5 to 10 years. 15,4 – Recommended

VINUM 2008 (dic.

91 punti

2000 VINTAGE:
WINESPECTATOR (31 dic. 2004): Very pretty, with floral, berry and citrus notes. Full bodied, with chewy tannins and strawberry and chocolate character. Balanced. Best after 2007. 92 points

1999 VINTAGE:
DECANTER (Nov. 2003): Big and soft, with all the right flavours. 4 stars, highly recommended
